"Flower Day, 1925" is a significant painting for several reasons, one of which is that it was Diego Rivera's first major painting to be included in a public collection in the United States. It was acquired by the Los Angeles Museum of History, Science, and Art (which would later become LACMA) after winning first prize in the First Pan-American Exhibition of Oil Paintings in 1925.

This exhibition was a landmark event for American art, showcasing works from across North, Central, and South America. Rivera's "Flower Day" was a standout piece, capturing the vibrant energy and spirit of Mexican culture. Its inclusion in the exhibition and subsequent acquisition by LACMA helped to introduce Rivera's work to American audiences and establish him as a major figure in the art world. Today, "Flower Day" remains a beloved and iconic work of art, admired for its beauty, vitality, and celebration of Mexican culture.
